Venom is the volume analysis indicator of the SignalViper suite. It measures WHO is in control of the market—buyers or sellers—using Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) calculations displayed as an oscillator with gradient fill and divergence detection.
What Venom Does
Venom calculates volume pressure based on where price closes within each bar's range. A close at the high = all buying pressure (+1), close at the low = all selling pressure (-1). This is multiplied by volume and smoothed to show who's really in control.
Key Features
- Pressure Oscillator - Cyan above zero (buying), magenta below zero (selling) with gradient fill
- Pressure MA (Signal Line) - Moving average for trend confirmation
- Divergence Detection - Spots when price and pressure disagree, warning of potential reversals
- Info Table - Shows control state, pressure value, flow direction, volume level, and divergence warnings
Reading the Indicator
Control States
- BUYERS in control - Pressure > 10 AND rising
- SELLERS in control - Pressure < -10 AND falling
- CONTESTED - |pressure| <= 10, no clear control
Pressure + Direction
- Above zero + rising - Buyers accumulating
- Above zero + falling - Buying pressure fading
- Below zero + falling - Sellers distributing
- Below zero + rising - Selling pressure fading
Divergence Warnings
- Bearish Divergence - Price higher high + pressure lower high
- Bullish Divergence - Price lower low + pressure higher low
Best Practices
- Use with Strike to confirm entry signals have volume support
- Strong pressure (>30) with HTF alignment = high conviction
- Watch for pressure divergence before exits
- CONTESTED periods often precede breakouts
Settings
- Sensitivity - Low/Normal/High presets for smoothing and lookback
- Show Pressure MA - Toggle signal line
- Show Zero Line - Toggle the zero line display
- Show Divergence Dots - Toggle divergence indicators
- Show Info Table - Toggle the info panel
- Table Position - Where to display the info table
